Fiona's
Quinoa Crunch is a powerhouse of a breakfast cereal. Made with two of
the most protein-rich grains, quinoa and sorghum, it is light,
flavorful, and dreamy when stirred into yogurt. (We recommend letting
the Quinoa Crunch sit 5 -10 minutes in the yogurt before indulging!)
Sorghum is a
little-known grain that is slowly being recognized for its many health
benefits. Extremely high in antioxidants, it is GMO-free, gluten-free,
and very high in protein. Sorghum's protein and starch components are
more slowly digested than other grains, which is particularly
beneficial for diabetics. Sorghum has a nutty flavor that lends itself
well as a breakfast cereal.
Quinoa, known as the
"Mother Grain of the Incas," is not really a grain, but is the seed of
a leafy plant. Although no single food can supply all of life's
essential nutrients, quinoa comes close. One of the more popular
"supergrains," it is extraordinarily rich in nutrients, containing up
to 50% more protein than most other grains. Quinoa is a complete
protein, as it contains all nine essential amino acids. It is rich in
iron and contains high levels of potassium and riboflavin, as well as
vitamins B6, niacin, and thiamin. It is also a good source of
magnesium, zinc, copper, manganese, and folate. Quinoa has a light,
delicate flavor that is subtly enhanced by our selection of fruits and
nuts.
